The music on this record is part of a series of compositions with which I aim to present the course of my compositional thinking, techniques and ideas regarding instrumental composition in the field of electroacoustic music. The subject of this piece is solely the acoustic guitar. With this portrait, I explore and compose my guitar’s instrumental identity. The latter refers to the totality of the instrument’s sonic attributes (e.g., timbre) and the endogenous morphological characteristics of sounds (e.g., dynamic envelope) that emanate from the modes and modalities through which they are emitted and permit the listener to attribute identification characteristics that place the instrument in a given instrumental family associated with established use. Through playing, recording, mixing, and synthesis techniques the sonic material was captured, sampled, stretched, shifted, filtered, granulated, enveloped, fused, and superimposed creating a series of polytextures moving through tonal and non-tonal territories, guided by a variety of melodies and rhythms, aiming to express what I call ''the guitarness of the guitar''.
Enjoy listening.
